Dumitru, I hope it was a great opportunity for your students to communicate with a native speaker. We would really love to read what they learned from Justin via Skype. Congratulations with your first successful intercultural video lesson!
From the online linkup session with mr. Justin Grotelueschen, I have learn many interesting things about generation gap. This problem is referring to the differences in values, customs, attitudes, and beliefs between any two generation, but especially between youths and adults. In our case, we have discussed about the generation gap between parents and kids.
In this online linkup session were addressed many questions, one of them was something like that: "Is the generation gap always a source of conflict?". Mr. Justin have said that two generations from the USA, sometimes have small misunderstandings, but so they have a friendly relationship. However, the generation gap is not always a source of conflict: the people of each generation can offer a valuable insight into the different ways the world can be viewed. I have understood that our parents generation is more civilized from some points of view. For example, at home when I can't do something, my mom or dad often tells me that when they were like me, they could do much more things.
If we want to solve this problem, our parents must understand us. We are young and full of energy, we have our dreams and opportunities. Finally our responsibility is to help, to understand, to support and to love them.
Svetlana Chiorescu: From the online link up session with mr. Justin Grotelueschen, I have learned many interesting things about generation gap and its problems.Generation gap refers to the difference in the ways of thinking and perception in the people of two different generations which results in behavioral differences and sometimes, conflict among them. In other words, it is the difference in the thinking of the people of the older and younger generation which is generally connotes with the lack of understanding or misunderstanding between them. This was the main idea of this online link up session.
In this online link up session were addressed many questions, like that: "Is the generation gap always a source of conflict?",''How parents can learn to understand the growth of the kids?'',''How can be resolved the generation gap?,''Which generation is more civilized, the one from past,or our generation?,''It is possible for parents and children to be friends?.
Mr. Justin said that in the USA, sometimes there are present disagreements between parents and kids. But disagreements are not always a source of conflict because the people of each generation can offer a valuable insight into the different ways the world can be viewed.
Generation gap is also created in the family due to religious teachings where parents are very strict with the duties their kids have to follow. They steal their children’s confidence that does not let them develop and find their inner self. Kids usually reject their parent’s boundaries because parents do not take their feelings into account. This directly leads the child lying to their parents, and thinking about other ways of fulfilling their aims and desires, thus creating a generation gap.
